Installing Whatsapp on s40 Java Phones Like Nokia X2, C2, Asha 200 & 205

By

Are you using Nokia Asha 200 or 205, Nokia X2, C2 or any other dual sim Nokia phones that doesn’t support Whatsapp but have other apps (2go, Nimbuzz…) running fine on the phone?

This tutorial will guide you on how to install Whatsapp on your non-supported java phone.
You need an updated whatsapp to start. If u try installing an outdated whatsapp app on your phone, you are likely to get errors (especially on dual sim Nokia phones) while updating it. So, I will keep all links posted here updated.
Not Anymore!

 Method 1
You can now install an old whatsapp and update it before using it. It may prompt you to delete the app cos it is invalid, ignore this and simply update it to the latest. You can do this by clicking on your options ~ update version
This way, you indirectly install the original app to your java phone instantly.
After updating, you can now jump to step 3 of method 2 and then continue from there.

Get any of the old whatsapp from this search list here
Get the single whatsapp file here (for those who have problem with unzipping files)

Method 2

STEP 1: Click Here to download whatsapp {UPDATED LINK}
STEP 2: Unzip the file and keep it in your memory card. Leave about 5mb space on your phone and then copy/move the app to your phone memory.
You can unzip the file using your PC(recommended), BlueFTP[446kb]   or WinRar[154kb]
The whatsapp icon is meant to display after unzipping.
If you unzip and see two files “whatsapp_jar & whatsapp_jad” just rename them to “whatsapp.jar & whatsapp.jad”. Also if you unzip via PC, don’t copy “whatsapp.jar” only and leave “whatsapp.jad”. Both files become one as soon as you rename and view on your phone.

STEP 3: When you have successfully downloaded whatsApp to your mobile phone, just open the file and run it.
For those using dual sim phones, you’ll need to select your network choice quick as soon as it prompts you to. If you don’t, you’re likely to wait a little longer to move to the next step.
You will see updating notification enabler, just let it load. It will fail and tell you phone not supported, ignore the notification error.

Note: Only SIM2 can successfully activate your whatsapp. If you keep getting errors, change your service provider network. It also helps to avoid setting up favorites failed

STEP 4: Be sure to add your valid mobile number, because you will receive an SMS or Call from whatsapp to verify your account.
At first, whatsapp will prompt you to verify your account via sms. Just click “yes” but don’t quit/hide the app to get the code. Since most s40 java phones cannot multitask, I’ll advise you to use the “Call me” option to later get the verification code. The codes will be repeated for about 30seconds, so be patient.
Enter the code and click ok.

STEP 5: Allow whatsapp to synchronize your contacts list and then you are good to go.

  8. After many tries and errors as mentioned above, my setup fails at "Setting up Favorites" screen at 66%. Later I added few more contacts and this now fails at 74%. I didn't understood any relation in this.
Since, this hasn't worked till 2 days for now, I restarted my phone & now it says - version 2.12.25 already open and cannot proceed.

I'm using Asha 200 & recharged my Airtel account with whatsapp specific net pack. Please assist from here.

    1. Wow, ok... i got you.
For the setting up favorites error, It is a function of the network you are using to activate it. I also notice that 'whatsapp subscription for airtel' is very slow compared to when you're actually using a full subscription ( in Nigeria & probably everywhere). Network fluctuation could break the process.

Here's what i need you to do, Try it again at midnight or very early in the morning (lets say between 1am - 6am). Since Asha 200 doesnt use 3G network, this would be a perfect time to get the best signal to complete the process.
      Choose sim 2,

  9. I am using X2-02. After failed attempts, i removed one SIM and used the other one to install whatsapp. it asked for upgradation and it got upgraded. Then when i opened the file, it ran "updating notification enabler" which showed the error phone not supported, which i ignored as stated.. But after that, I am not able to verify my mobile number. I am getting error "could not connect to server: Error occured whilst opening connection". I tried the same with both the SIMs and selecting SIM2 also gave the same error. Please guide me... Thanks.
